Snagit Tips for Lectora e-Learning Software

Snagit® for Lectora® is a handy screen capture tool that comes bundled in Lectora Inspire e-Learning software. Many users are probably familiar with its ability to easily create screen captures directly from your desktop, quickly edit and add callouts, stamps, etc., but the capabilities of Snagit extend far beyond basic screen captures.

In the Inspiration Wednesdays webinar, Snagit for Lectora: What Else is There, e-Learning pro Tara Roe explains how to take advantage of some lesser-known Snagit features for e-Learning:

RoundtrippingWhen you edit an image in Snagit, the image is automatically updated in your Lectora Inspire title with the roundtripping feature. To edit an image in Snagit:

• Step 1: Right click on the image and select Edit – the image will then launch in the Snagit editor
• Step 2: Make your modifications
• Step 3: When you hit Save, the changes are automatically reflected in your Lectora Inspire title

Batch graphicsUse the Batch Conversion tool to simultaneously modify a group of images which drastically cuts back on production time. Here’s how:

• Select Convert Images from the Snagit launch screen to open the Batch Conversion Wizard
• Step 1: Select the files you want to modify
• Step 2: Choose your conversion filters and special effects
• Step 3: Determine your output options including where to save the images, file format and file name
• Step 4: The Batch Conversion Wizard Ready is the last step; just click Finish and your files will convert and save

Tip: Create a folder containing all the images that require batch updates to save time uploading them to the wizard.Watermark graphicsTake advantage of the watermark feature to comply with organization protocol or to protect your images from unauthorized use.

• Step 1: Select the Image tab in Snagit
• Step 2: Click on the Watermark option in the Image tab
• Step 3: Upload your desired image or logo
• Step 4: Choose to use the overlay or underlay effect
• Click Close and the watermark will display in your project
