Welcome to the second installment of your 2017 Lectora® User Conference Guide to Cincinnati! We know you’re really here for the eLearning sessions, keynote speaker Karl Kapp, and vendor exhibits, but you know what they say about all work and no play…The Banks entertainment district is on the banks of the Ohio River. Nestled between the Reds stadium and the Bengals stadium, the banks stretches along a 45-acre park and features activities for all ages.[caption id="attachment_94459" align="aligncenter" width="547"]
Above, one small part of Smale Park[/caption]If you need to stretch your legs after a jam-packed day of eLearning sessions and networking at LUC 2017, Smale Riverfront Park is an excellent option. This park is packed with fountains, walkways, gardens, event lawns, playgrounds, a carousel, and more. The Banks is a ten-minute walk from the conference hotel, the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati. The area features a mix of local and chain restaurants, bars, and retail stores.Moerlein Lager House115 Joe Nuxhall WayOne of my favorite restaurants at The Banks is the Moerlein Lager House. Moerlein is a craft microbrewery that serves delectable fare with a German/Bavarian focus. Ask for a table on the second floor near the windows or outside on the deck. The views of the Ohio River, Roebling Suspension Bridge, and Great American Ball Park are fantastic.[caption id="attachment_94460" align="aligncenter" width="489"]

This local waffle chain started in Findlay Market (more on Findlay Market in the next blog!) and quickly expanded. They have several locations in Cincinnati and Columbus.
Great American Ball Park100 Joe Nuxhall WayBatter up! Baseball fans lucked out here. The Cincinnati Reds will be in town all of LUC week, playing the Pittsburgh Pirates May 1-4 and then playing the San Francisco Giants May 5-7. You can also visit the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum while you’re at the ballpark.National Underground Railroad Freedom Center50 East Freedom WayLooking for something a little more historical for your visit? Described on TripAdvisor.com as “a very moving experience” and “outstanding,” the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is a history museum visited by more than 100,000 people annually.A few other hotspots at The Banks…
Between the downtown area right around the conference hotel and The Banks, you’ll have plenty to do in off-hours, but make sure you leave some time to explore Over-The-Rhine. I’ll be talking about that area in the next Mission Report—see you then!Register Now
